South Wilmington Wetlands Open House – Tuesday, June 19, 6-8pm, Elbert-Palmer Elementary School

Come to this Open House Workshop to learn about the South Wilmington Wetland Park Projects.  During the workshop, you’ll learn how this projects propose to reduce flooding in Southbridge, clean up contaminated land, and create a safe and attractive park.  You’ll also have the chance to have YOUR say about the design of the wetland park, transportation projects, and storm water infrastructure.  To learn more, please visit


Wilmington Transportation Open House – Wednesday, June 20, 4-7 PM, Wilmington Public Library

You are invited to a Transportation Open House to learn about several transportation projects proposed for the City of Wilmington. The Open House will be held on Wednesday, June 20 at the Wilmington Public Library. You are welcome to stop by anytime from 4-7pm.  The workshop will highlight many transportation projects planned for the City, including three new studies:  12th Street Connector Alignment Study, East 7th Street Peninsula Study, Safety & Capacity Improvement Study for 5-Point Intersection.  Other highlighted projects will include: 9th Street Enhancements, Phase 2; Brandywine South Pedestrian Improvements, Concord Avenue Streetscape, Phase 2; Old Brandywine Village Streetscape, Southbridge Streetscape, Phase 2; Walnut Street Pedestrian and Streetscape Improvements, Two-Way King Street, and I-95 Viaduct Improvements. Route 9 Corridor Master Plan Public Workshop – Monday, June 25, 5:30-7:30 PM, Rose Hill Community Center

You are invited to learn about and discuss the Route 9 Corridor Master Plan. Join the Wilmington Area Planning Council (WILMAPCO) on Monday, June 25 at 5:30pm at the Rose Hill Community Center’s Senior Center, 19 Lambson Ln, New Castle. The Route 9 Corridor Master Plan, completed last year, established a 20-year redevelopment vision for the corridor. It made concept level land use and transportation recommendations, based on strong community guidance and input. Roundtable discussions at the workshop will allow you to hear about recommendations and voice your ideas.  DNREC will also be on hand to discuss several important local environmental initiatives. 12th Street Connector Transportation Improvement Study Visioning Workshop – Monday, June 25, 6-8 PM, Fletcher Brown Boys & Girls Club

The Wilmington Initiatives partners are beginning a transportation planning study to connect 12th Street from I-495 to the Brandywine Waterfront and the 16th Street Bridge. The purpose of this study is to create a reimagined 12th Street corridor utilizing new transportation patterns that generate economic growth and provide more efficient and multi-modal connections to access the area. Transportation investments will also incorporate community enhancements and green infrastructure to help beautify the neighborhood and reduce flood risk. 7th Street Peninsula Study Community Workshop – Tuesday, June 26, 5:30-8 PM, Kalmar Nyckel Foundation

The Wilmington Initiatives partners, including the City of Wilmington, DelDOT and WILMAPCO, are preparing a Master Plan for the 7th Street Peninsula.  The master plan will identify and prioritize necessary roadway and utility improvements, and evaluate and recommend land use and development potential for the East 7th Street Peninsula. To solicit community feedback, a Community Workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 26 from 5:30 to 8 pm at the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation, 1124 E. 7thStreet, Wilmington.  During the workshop, there will be a presentation and roundtable discussions on topics such as flooding, land use, recreational amenities, access, and others. Southbridge Community Health Fair – Thursday, July 19, 5:30-7:30 PM, Neighborhood House

You are invited to a Community Health Fair. This jam packed event will include cooking demonstrations with healthy food samples, nearly two dozen exhibitors with great information and health screenings, nutritional expert speakers, and lots of raffle prizes and giveaways! All for free. Speakers will discuss how to prevent and even reverse chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease with diet, and the basics of how to eat a healthy diet.
